Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)

At Encompass Health Clinic, we bring together the best in therapies, providing you with the most appropriate and effective protocols to healing injuries, pain relief and inflammation, including FSM.

Pain can be different for many people. For some it is acute, but for others it can be chronic and debilitating. Regardless of the intensity, duration or causative factors, pain can affect people in many different ways. Underlying all types of pain, however, are definite changes that occur to the physical tissue, such as inflammation, swelling, tissue trauma and pain producing chemicals. Whenever there is tissue trauma or dysfunction, the cells increase their electrical resistance and reduce their capacitance. This means that the cell becomes less able to receive nutritional input, water or minerals, nor are they as capable of removing toxins. This is not an environment that supports healing and tissue repair, and as such, the injured area remains swollen, painful and traumatised for a longer period. FSM is an electrotherapy device shown to decrease this electrical resistance and improve the cells capacitance, therefore dramatically improving oxygenation and cellular repair.

What is Microcurrent Therapy?
Microcurrent is the application of frequency specific electrical currents to the injured part of the body. It helps injured tissue heal faster and provides relief from pain caused by injury or chronic conditions. Microcurrent therapy is most valuable when combined with other modalities.

How Microcurrent Therapy Works
Your body has a natural electrical current that provides intercellular communication through electromagnetic signalling. When you have an injury, this signalling is disrupted or diminished. Without the proper electromagnetic signals, your cells cannot do their job efficiently and restore your electromagnetic field to repair injured cells.
